How do I get my boy to be more photogenic?

My 4 year old son is unfortunately camera-shy, and I need help! It seems every time I try to get a picture of him he tries to hide or cover his face, and just seems unhappy. I’ve tried getting pictures of him in the park, in the bath tub, or at birthday parties. One of his friends from preschool comes to visit every now and then, and even with his little friend over he won’t let me take a picture! His friend will happily for the camera, even when I’m helping them use the bathroom! Please help!

just dont take pictures of him if he doesnt want you to, just respect his privacy some people just dont like getting their pictures taken and even if he did you shouldnt take them in the bath tub or in the bathroom thats just not right

I don’t know what this has to do with singles and dating, but perhaps dangle a bender or bart simpson doll in his face as you take a picture…

maybe its a toddler type phase, maybe he’ll get more photogenic later on….

perhaps you should invest in a video camera, maybe your son is a bit "pic" shy, but if you run a camera non-stop on him, eventually the comfort will set in for still shots…maybe give your son a "starter"camera so he can take his own shots, and develop them so he sees the pics he shot for himself… he might adapt and get more pic friendly from that… jus a few suggestions…

There must be someone that lights his face up when he see’s them. Have them stand in back of you smiling at him and talking to him. It will get his attention off of what you are doing and you can snap away.

I have been taking pictures of my granson since birth. I aim a camera at him and he poses. When his mom takes him to get professional pictures they can’t get over how good he is and how he will just sit and do the poses without them even having to do anything.

Now his sister and my other grandson are the same way. Also, I found it help if after you take the picture you show it to them. They are facinated with seeing themselves . Pretty soon he will be asking you to take one so he can see it.

When one of his friends are over take one of their pictures, show it to them and make a big deal out of it. Soon he will be saying mom take my picture. But I actually find the ones that turn out the best are the ones where they don’t pose for me. The natural ones.

Especially when I am taking a picture of my 10 month old grandson who is to old to know when I say to him say cheese. I try to get pictures of him on the floor in front of the door playing with his toys. Every now and then he looks up and smiles from having so much fun and I get a great shot.

So take random shots for now . You may just catch him at the right time and get a beautiful shot of him ! Make a game out of it.

Some other good pictures are when you take them to the park. They are to busy having fun to notice what you are doing. I hope this helps.
