i feel my landlord is spying on me i dont know why, i dont do anything illegal i just work and go home- i feel that its not just me she has had this set up for years – i hired a private investigator and he basically ripped me – he just came and looked around and showed me this book of hidden cameras – i asked him where was his hidden camera detector and tools to see if they are hidden in the light fixturse- the he took the bathroom light fixture down and looked at and state it doesn’ look like any thing is there and then he couldn’t get it back on- i told him i felt he did nothing and still i had to pay 75.00 i reported then to the BBB, th land lord lives upstairs amd i can feel her looking down on me, some of this is based on the things she says and i wonder how would she know unless she can or listens to conversations how can i get her to stop, are hidden camera a reliabe evidence in police matters
i want to know this before i go and buy one

you sound extremely paranoid. there seems to be no reason for you to think she is spying on you. and now your asking how you can go buy a hidden camera? for what? you need some help.. seriously not trying to be mean

If you can’t find a hidden camera, then there’s nothing you can do. You can’t get the police to search her private rooms to look for video evidence without some evidence yourself. Either tear your place apart looking for a camera or hire a more reliable PI.

Paranoid much?
If she has cameras pointed on you, you should be able to find them yourself. Look into the air vents…inside light fixtures, inside the fan in the bathroom, etc.
You might also find that your voice or noises in the apartment are carrying to her place via the vents. She might not be watching you but she could hear you. It’s not that she’s purposely listening, I’m sure she had a life, but sound does travel.

well i have a good idea become really good friends with your land lord then one day she will probably invite you to her house and that’s when you put hidden camera’s in her house but of course wait until shes not looking and if you don’t see anything that would give you more proof then go back to her house and take them down and that would solve your problem

DO NOT question your instincts. If she is repeating things she could have only known if she could hear your conversations in your apt. then you know where she’s getting it. It could be as simple as her hearing you through the vents or floor, though.
Video and/or audio recording someone without their knowledge or permission is subject to your local and state laws. I don’t know about the technology involved in detecting the devices (sweeping for bugs, I guess). I doubt your landlord has anything very sophisticated if that’s what she’s doing. You’ve looked for cameras in obvious places likes ductwork and other openings?
Maybe set up your landlord. Make up a situation but talk about different aspects of it in different areas in your apt. Don’t talk about it outside your apt. By controlling where you talk about it you will be able to identify sensitive areas in your apt. and absolutely confirm that she is somehow overhearing your private conversations.
Or you could confront her if you feel you have enough proof already. What have you got to lose?
